Hi guys, has anybody got one of these big daddies, how do you rate it against any other large filter, would you use it instead of sump system or would you or could you combine the two. Also where would you get one for the best price?

I had one of these for a couple of years Great Filters, however, i ended up selling it in favour of a sump system, if you can install a sump then this is what i would recommend as you will have more options in the future, easier to maintain, greater media capacity and what you would pay for the 2180 you should be able to get a far larger sump for a lot less.

Check out previous posts, type Sump into the search and see what others have to say.

If you got the space, sump always the way to go!

Thanks guys for your input. It looks like the sump wins hands down for versatility , as somebody has just mentioned to me you can also do your water changes through it also, so less disruption in the tank.

Also hides all your heaters and air stones and gives a nice clean look.
Plus the added water volume what discus like.

I use this filter on my 350 litre Juwel (along with the internal filter as well, with the 300w heater as a back up set at a slightly lower temperature than 29) and it's been pretty faultless so far. The priming is much better than the smaller 300 3e I use on my smaller tank and the heater has worked exemplary. I've used eheim's for many years and rarely had any issues with them at all (none spring to mind!)
Sump's are more versatile though, if you have the space to house one.....
Bought mine in Qatar and cost me about 300.00 plus some additional media, so whilst you can probable get cheaper in the UK, I couldn't actually find anyone who would deliver here!

Hi all, sorry for not being online in ages, new job, moving tank etc....
A few weeks ago, I was doing some maintenance of my eheim 600t (replacement filter wool, clean pre-filter etc) and it would not start syphoning again, nor allow me to take the tap off using the quick release mechanism.
Having tried for about 3 hours and cutting my hands to ribbons, I took the head to the shop it was purchased from. He's never seen anything like it before so (luckily then had one in stock) just swapped the head for me which since then has worked perfectly again.
It wasn't something i would have ever expected!
