Just ordered one of these so will be reviewing it should be here thursday i hope as i have just broken my 2180's heater and the filter isn't working right at all so instead of just replacing the head and 250 i brought the brand new fx6 and eheim 300watt heater for 246 all in :D so so far it seems like a great price for a fantastic filter

had one for about 3years until i went to sump , excellent filter
never had any problems in all that time
seems to have a very high compacity for filtering

Right here we have the new fx6 well packaged and good instructions

It looks smart and nice and easy to put together its alot smaller than the 2180 so fits in my cabinet better

Start up was fantastic filled the filter with 8 litres away it went stopped after a min to get rid of any trapped air which is fantastic. I have to say its very quiet maybe abit more than the 2180. I did have to cut my hood a little to get the pipes through which i expected to do anyway so not that much of a pain
Media inside you get 3 baskets
    [IMG]
    Top had biofoam
    Second ceramic rings
Third carbon pad and media bags(media bags empty fill with what ever u want)

Pros: great filter quiet easy quick setup nice power comes with media CHEAP
Cons: No heater which the 2180 had but then again it is twice as much will update with any problems if i have any

Is there any reason why you rid the 2180 in favour of the fx6 ?

Fx5/6 basically the same. Some twisty dials for cleaning and some red shinny bits is all they upgraded.

Have had the FX6 for around 6mths now and its doing a fine job so far.Have been cleaning it every month and cant believe the amount of muck this filter pulls in considering that I syphon the bottom of the tank daily (bare bottom).
Have recently removed the fx6 strainer and the telescopic part of the input stem and replaced with an eheim prefilter cleaned every couple of days to prolong the filter maintenance.
I didnt use any of the supplied media apart from the six sponges that go around the baskets and have eheim substrat pro in the bottom 2 baskets and eheim bio mech in the top basket.

Still happy with your FX6 Steve?

    Regards Martin
