My name is Stewart and I'm from Glasgow. I am very active in the marine reef keeping side of the hobby and have decided to do something I've wanted to do for many years - keep and breed discus all going well.

I'm due to take early retirement in July 17 and have started building a fish house in preparation for the days after work is a distant memory. The fish house is a 12 x 8 hut and insulated.

My main tank is 5x2x2 and sumped. I'll be doing a lot of reading and probably asking all you guys for advice.

I'm going to set the tank up in the next few weeks and get it cycling and then running with tetras in preparation for buying the first discus. I desparately want to wait until I've given up work before I start keeping the discus so that I fill my early days of not working and keep busy. It also means I can devote full time to the fish and their environment.

    That's all for now.

Welcome along Stewart, always glad to see another "Scot" on board ;)
Lots of info on here so do searches since forum can be quiet this time of year due to holidays. Only bit I would suggest is using ammonia to prep your set up rather than tetras, more predictable and does not cause stress on any fish.

Thanks mate and yeah I meant get the tank cycling first and then add fish but not discus to keep it going and ultimately settled for when I do start adding discus.
