I finished dismantling my reef on Sunday and the tank is now cleaned and empty. I am finally wallpapering and painting behind the tank tonight and will put it and the sump all back together tomorrow night ready for the sand and water.

I'll need to go to Wilkos for some pan scrubbers tomorrow for the sump and get some kind of filter floss too

Exciting times for me. I'm away for 11 days from Friday so plan is to leave it running over that time period.

waters been in since Tuesday night and the sands in too. The tank is still cloudy but I've only just put some filter floss in the sump so hopefully that will reduce the cloudiness. Got pan scrubbers coming tomorrow I've ordered 15 packs from Wilkos.
I've bought a thermometer and its on 28 in the display tank with both heaters being in the sump. What do you suggest I raise it to?
The sand needs levelling out and I may need another smaller 5kg pack of sand over the weekend but then after that it will getting the bogwood.

Hopefully I can get the pics to work. I've bought 15 packs of wilkos pan scrubbers. Staff in there are so rude!! :)
the water is clearing up now too but not quite enough. Any tips or will it just come.
Hopefully getting some bog wood in the next week I just want one big piece. I went to buy some vallis from my LFS but it was afiver for a crappy looking plant. I will keep an eye out for some giant vallis or normal vallis going locally.

I don't think you cleaned the sand well enough tbh. I've added sand many times and the water doesn't cloud at all, it's boring but I clean it for about an hour.i would just keep changing your filter floss until clear. Also when the tank isn't cycled the water is never truly clear.

I got 5 black neons yesterday as they were cheap and looked healthy. These are simply to see how the tank is cycling etc. I wont add anything else yet for a little while as I want bog wood and plants. Just ordere 5 giant vallis online so looking forward to getting those in.
Got the temp up to a steady 30 now too

Ordered 5 giant vallis from ebay and they came today and I was impressed with the quality of them. Planted them and its made my tank look more normal bearing in mind there is only sand in there. I need to get my bog wood sorted out asap but I'm going to be fussy over the piece of two pieces I get

Got some bog wood last Tuesday and thats in there now making the tank look a little more lived in. I still need a bigger piece for the left hand side of the tank. Also ordered some amazon swords and java fern on bog wood along with anubias on a bog wood to get delivered this week.
I got 10 cardinals and 4 rummys on Sunday and they look lovely swimming around.

Added today 5 more rummy nose and 4 sterbai corys.

I added a couple of weeks ago 5 amazon swords and a load of java fern on bog wood and a small anubias on a small piece of bogwood.

The LFS also gave me some floating plants today that have quite big leaves. I will get some pics up later.
