    hey guys

I arrive here after losing a full marine setup to white spot.

I learnt from that, be careful where you buy your fish

    So onwards

    Tank is a 5ft 450l with 100l sump,

I originally planted it with sand, but wasn't sure.....turns out something was off., be it root tabs or the sand but it stunk.

    This was it

I then cleaned out the sand and plants for bare bottom, to this

Tank has 30 cardinals, 9 Cory and a plec

Today I'm going to see Steve punchard for my discus

I know it is easier to vacuum the fish poop out with a bare bottomed tank, but I would advise adding about 3/4 of an inch of JBL Sansibar River Sand to your tank to compliment that nice looking bit of wood and plants you have in there. You can find it on eBay or Amazon.

    Fish look great!

    Cheers

Well fish have been in a week now,

In that time the tank has mini cycled, which I knew would happen.

I've added a separate canister filter with built in 9wt uv, this has a spray bar and has purigen, carbon and floss in it.

I also did my first water change.

Used my 3stage hma filter, into my large water container, then aireated and heated overnight.

Fish are still fairly shy, but happily eat everything offered-only fed bh twice both times it's been left on the bottom of the tank, hardly touched.

    Got some more tank mates

    Colombian tetra
    Lemon tetra
    Bleeding heart tetra
