It would be great if we could. Maybe start with some slightly bigger fish?

Slightly, but you can grow out 3inch fish to adults size in about 8months. Could also start with 2- 2.5 inch fish and just see who gets them the biggest in the time preceding the show.

K I think your maths is squint mate ;)

I think that given the time to organise something like this, it will not leave enough time to properly grow the fish out, even starting with larger fish. The first part of the challenge is to find a supplier with enough of a given strain or strains, then there is the process of choosing the participants ... best will in the world this will take a few weeks - even if it is only two weeks, by the time the challengers get their fish a good three or four weeks will have passed. That would put us mid November - if the show is mid/late May then there is only six months .... not enough imo.

Yeah well said. I forgot about the logistics and set up. I really enjoy the challenges. They produce such good competition and they are so educational. Always pick up things from participants set-ups. Shame.

    Next show maybe........

Ray (who one last time) and Shaun have a version of the challenge on the Scottish Discus Keepers Facebook using the fry that the winning fish produced, maybe there is something there to work with / ask about.
